hugo alves taksi trio

Synopsis:
After the release of his first solo CD, “Estranha Natureza” (Strange Nature), considered the “Best Portuguese Jazz CD of 2003”, Hugo Alves releases his second album “Taksi Trio” in 2005. The album was attributed the High Sponsorship of “Faro-National Capital of Culture 2005”, and was considered as “One of Best Five Portuguese Jazz CD's of 2005”. On stage Hugo Alves is joined by musicians Rodrigo Monteiro (POR) on double base, and Jorge Moniz (POR) on drums. The project composed of original compositions, moves within the more contemporary and free context while showing its hard-bop identity. It is a real experience between the three musicians that seem to allow themselves to evolve and simultaneously be involved within the original music written by Hugo Alves. “Taksi Trio” had over twenty concerts in 2006 all over their native country (Portugal) as well as during renown festivals such as Lagos Jazz and Tass Jazz, their concerts were also part of the celebrations for “Faro - National Capital of Culture 2005”.
